HoP Designer's Blog #2

I've just received some great news, we'll be opening the doors to the Crypt Monkey Games site within the next two weeks! Not that any of you can read this until the doors are actually open but it makes me happy anyway. Now my challenge is to have HoP ready for beta by the time this happens! We are really close but this will be another short blog because I'm still not able to give out a lot of information yet.
I wrote the first Scrap for HoP last week, it's titled First Through the Door
. It's also our first public facing Scrap so it's kind of momentous. I decided to start with the story of Mark Vinter, one of our unfortunate guests caught unaware by a horde of nasty creatures on the roof of a huge house. Mark finds himself, along with the rest of the people that survived the initial onslaught, struggling to get out of the house alive. Right now he's still on the third floor but we'll chronicle Mark Vinter more in the future in other Scraps. I don't think Mark needs to worry about those monsters, I'm sure they just want to cuddle. You know how demons are about their hugs!
Anyway, as you may have discovered by this point, all of our games have a story that go along with them and this is true whether the game is an RPG or a primer-card game like HoP. The game's theme is important to us and we feel that a continuing story helps to breathe much more life into that theme. Scraps, as we call them, are just one method you'll see us use to tell a story.
That's it for now. I'm going to get back to work and have this thing beta ready
by the time the site goes live! Check back next time and I'll provide some insight into what HoP is like. In the meantime, give the House of Possession Lead-In story and Scraps a read.
